The National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s Committee on Review of the 21st Century Truck Partnership has released a report that explores the research and development projects carried out by the 21st Century Truck Partnership (21CTP), which was formed in 2001 to reduce fuel usage and emissions in trucks of Classes 3 through 8. The third report of the review committee builds on the Phase 1 and 2 reviews and reports, and also comments on changes and progress since the Phase 2 report was issued in 2012.
The 21CTP is a cooperative research and development partnership including four federal agencies–the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency–and 15 industrial partners. TRB is part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, which provides independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conducts other activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions. The Academies also encourage education and research, recognize outstanding contributions to knowledge, and increase public understanding in matters of science, engineering, and medicine. |
