Carnegie Report Suggests Oil Tax to Fund Transportation Infrastructure

Instituting an oil tax could help fund U.S. transportation projects and reduce the nation’s dependence on oil, concludes a report released Monday by the Leadership Initiative on Transportation Solvency at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.The report, “Road to Recovery: Transforming America’s Transportation,” was authored by Bill Bradley, former U.S. senator from New Jersey; Tom Ridge, former Pennsylvania governor and secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; and David Walker, former U.S. comptroller general.
