Use of warm mix asphalt containing recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) and recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) in a thin-lift asphalt surfacing last year helped central Texas’ Lindsey Contractors, Inc., achieve higher densities in the field, while boosting plant production by 45 percent.
In 2010, on U.S. 84 between Waco and Mexia, Texas, Lindsey placed about 100,000 tons of warm mix asphalt (WMA) as a simple two-lift overlay.
